The Sendai area is located in the central part of Miyagi prefecture, and refers to Sendai City, the largest city in the Tohoku district. The city of Sendai is called "the capital of the forest", beautiful zelkova trees line the street of the "Jouzenji road".
There are many historical sites in the city along with various commercial and cultural facilities. The "Sendai Castle ruins" is a popular tourist spot. You can see over Sendai city from the elevated platform with a statue of masamune Date, the sengoku warrior who built Sendai castle.
There are also many hot springs such as "Aki Onsen" and "Sakono Onsen" in Sendai city. Beef tongue cuisine and sweets made with processed edamame are a specialty in this town.
From Tokyo, you can reach "Sendai Station" by Tohoku Shinkansen in approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Also, you can go from the domestic main airport to Sendai Airport. It takes about 1 hour 15 minutes from Narita International Airport, and 1 hour 30 minutes from Kansai International Airport.
