Ikaho is a region located in the central part of Gunma prefecture. It includes the cities of Shibukawa and Takasaki.
Ikaho is synonymous with Ikaho Onsen. It’s one of Gunma prefectures representative hot springs areas along with Kusatsu Onsen and Minakami Onsen. At the heart of the onsen town, there is a stone staircase with roughly 365 steps and it serves as a symbol of Ikaho Onsen. You can enjoy outdoor activities at Mount Haruna, nicknamed "Haruna Fuji" because its beautiful conical shape is like Mt. Fuji, and Lake Haruna, which was made by volcanic eruption.
It is convenient to have a car for getting around this area. You can get to Ikaho Onsen from major cities by train and bus. From Tokyo Station, it takes the bullet train about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to Shibukawa Station, where you can get a bus for Ikaho Onsen. Shibukawa Station is about 30 minutes by bus away from Ikaho Onsen. If you take a conventional train, it takes about 3 hours to get from Tokyo station to Ikaho Onsen.
