Amanohashidate is a region located in the northern part of Kyoto prefecture. It includes the cities of Miyazu and Kyotango and the county of Yosa.
In this area, you can enjoy the sea scenery of Kyoto, which is very different from the center of the city. Among the attractions of the area are Amanohashidate, which is chosen as one of the three great views of Japan along with Miyajima and Matsushima. Besides that, we also recommend spots where you can enjoy the culture typical of this area on the Sea of Japan such as the Ine-no-Funaya Houses (boathouses of the town of Ine) used by the local fishermen and the Ine Bay Sightseeing Boat.
It is convenient to have a car for getting around this area. You can get from central Kyoto to Amanohashidate by train, express bus, or car. It takes about 2 hours to get from Kyoto station by train or express bus.
